What does it mean to write a paper? How long does it take and what is the best place to start? In this module you’ll learn what it entails to write a scientific journal article and how to manage the process smoothly.

What you’ll work on: an initial ‘sketch’ of your paper

🔨 2 Laying the foundation

In this module you’ll learn how to develop a solid basis for your paper by answering the research questions and uncovering the implications of your work.

What you’ll work on: preparing the contents of the Discussion section

🎨 3 Setting the scene

What’s the big deal with choosing an audience? How (and why) should you frame your research? In this module you’ll work on placing your research into context by preparing the Introduction section.

🗒️ 4 Outlining a narrative

In what order should you present the information? And what makes a narrative ‘compelling’? In this module, you’ll learn how to structure your journal article and present information in a logical order.

What you’ll work on: a structured outline of the paper narrative (Title, Abstract, Intro, Results, Methods, Discussion)

📝 5 Writing a compelling text

In this module we’ll touch on some strategies to write efficiently and manage common culprits. You’ll also learn tricks to create flow and improve the readability of your manuscript.

What you’ll work on: a fully written and edited draft

📜 6: The nitty-gritty of getting published

How do the submission, revisions, and publication process work? And what can you do make these steps go (relatively) smoothly? In this module, you’ll receive strategies and checklists to manage the entire publication process.
